The Perfect Peel at the Bexley Clinic

The Perfect Peel is a revolutionary peel that will transform your skin into looking younger, healthier and clearer in just one week. Kind to all skin types, the Perfect Peel requires no skin preparation and the virtually pain free process takes less than 15 minutes.

The Perfect Peel blends glutathione, kojic acid, TCA, retinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol and a blend of minerals and vitamins, including vitamin C. Kojic acid is a powerful lightening agent and proven to increase collagen and elastin production, resulting in skin that is brighter and tighter. TCA, phenol and retinoic acid reduce wrinkles and correct pigment problems, while salicylic acid exfoliates the skin and reduces inflammation.

To follow, you are given an individual home treatment pack that contains retinol wipes and a vitamin C moisteriser to assist the peeling process and enhance your results.

At the Bexley Clinic, this peel is offered at a discounted rate of only £250.

Please phone or email for further information or to book a consultation.

Please read re: effects of tanning machines on the skin

Did you know that worldwide, there are more skin cancer cases due to indoor tanning than there are lung cancer cases due to smoking?
Both indoor and outdoor ultraviolet radiation (UVR) tanning are proven causes of skin cancer, but the average indoor tanning machine in England is 2.3 times more cancer-causing than the midday Mediterranean sun. In fact, some British tanning machines are up to six times as dangerous, according to researchers who measured ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation output from hundreds of tanning machines.
Please avoid tanning beds and stay safe in the sun by covering up as much as possible and using a broad spectrum high SPF (over 30) this summer.

Can Zinc help your Botox last longer?

There have been some small studies done in recent years which show that taking a supplement containing zinc has increased the longevity of Botox cosmetic treatments.

However, the supplements used in the studies were Zytase, which also contains an enzyme called phytase in addition to the zinc. To date, there have been no studies looking at zinc supplementation on its own with Botox. With the price of Zytase being more than fifty times the price of ordinary zinc supplements, it becomes less of an attractive option.

Until further research is concluded, many doctors are advising that it is worth trying regular zinc supplementation rather that the Zytase pills, or alternatively increasing the amount of zinc-rich foods in the diet.

Is microneedling really the next big thing?

Skin needling, also called microneedling therapy, collagen induction therapy (CIT), and percutaneous collagen induction (PCI), is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure that involves the use of a device that contains fine needles. The needles are used to puncture the skin to create a controlled skin injury. Each puncture creates a channel that triggers the body to fill these microscopic wounds by producing new collagen and elastin. Through the process of neovascularization and neocollagenesis, there is improvement in skin texture and firmness, as well as reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks.

In relation to the treatment of scarring, the results of a study done evaluating the effectiveness of microneedling were as follows-

” Out of these 36 patients, 34 achieved a reduction in the severity of their scarring by one or two grades. More than 80% of patients assessed their treatment as ‘excellent’ on a 10-point scale. No significant adverse effects were noted in any patient.”

J Cutan Aesthet Surg. 2009 Jan-Jun; 2(1): 26–30.

Professional skin needling is considered to be one of the safest skin treatments.

Skin needling is effectively used for:

Microneedling at the Bexley Clinic

The skin is a very effective barrier, so it is no surprise that only about 7-10% products that are applied to the skin will get absorbed. Microneedling allows up to 80% more product into the skin, providing essential cell nutrients for stimulating your own collagen naturally. With medical microneedling, the products can be delivered to the depth of the fibroblasts (cells that play a role in keeping skin young). However, there are some products which are harmful to be used with needling, so it is important to know what you are doing with this treatment, which is why you should only see an appropriately trained medical professional for this.

At the Bexley Clinic, you will always have a full assessment to determine if microneedling is the best treatment for your particular needs. It is normally recommended to have a course of treatments, although results can be seen after just one session.

Please email or phone for further information. The Bexley clinic is ideally situated for Eltham, Welling, Bexley, Bexleyheath, Chislehurst, Bromley, and Greenwich.

Focus on…. eyelashes

Here at the Bexley clinic, we offer two products that can assist in the goal of longer, thicker lashes.

The first is an Obagi product called Elastilash, which contains complexes to help achieve longer and thicker lashes. It is a non-prescription item.

The second item is prescription only. It is a drug called bimatoprost, marketed here in the UK as Lumigan. These are eyedrops that are also prescribed for glaucoma patients, and it was noticed that in this group of patients, their lashes were growing fuller and longer.

You will need a consultation for these eyedrops first to ensure that you are suitable to have them.

The Bexley clinic is situated in Blackfen, ideal for surrounding areas such as Welling, Eltham, Greenwich, Bexley, Bexleyheath and Bromley.

The latest on dermal needling

Just back from an exhausting but very rewarding study day in London on microneedling. One of the leaders in the field, Dr Lance Setterfield was the main speaker. Very excited about my new dermal needling pen, more to come….watch this space!

Focus on….Obagi Nu Derm

At the Bexley clinic, one of our popular products is the Obagi Nu Derm skincare system.

This skincare system was made famous by Dr. Zein Obagi, who had a unique philosophy for keeping skin healthy.

The goal is achieving healthy skin from the inside out.  The system utilises potent ingredients with patented technologies which encourage penetration to all layers of skin. Damaged cells are “retrained” to function normally.

The system is particularly popular with patients who suffer with hyperpigmentation. It evens out skin tone, will also correct lines and wrinkles, reduce acne flares and promote and maintain healthy skin.

Please see our Gallery for before and after pictures…

Anna-Marie Lewis is listed on the Obagi website as an accredited practitioner and prescriber of the Obagi Nu derm system.

The Bexley clinic is in Blackfen, Sidcup, ideally situated for Bromley, Welling, Eltham, Bexley, Bexleyheath, and Crayford.
