Where is the clinic based?

The clinic is located on Blackfen Road in Sidcup, it is a short drive from Bromley, Chislehurst, Blackheath, Eltham, Bexley and surrounding areas. It is also easily accessible by public transport; the 132 bus service stops directly outside the clinic providing direct access from Greenwich and Bexleyheath. Falconwood Rail station is a pleasant 20 minute walk, providing links to central London, London Bridge, Lewisham and Barnehurst.

Do you offer services anywhere else?

We no longer offer any services in other clinics, although we used to operate from The Retreat clinic in Bexleyheath.

What is Botox?

Botox injections are the best known of a group of medications that use various forms of botulinum toxin to temporarily paralyze muscle activity. Botox is a trade mark for a specific botulinum toxin type A product, but other brands available include Vistabel, Dysport, Bocouture, and Azzalure. Botulinum toxin, acts by blocking acetylcholine, the chemical which transmits electrical impulses that cause muscle contractions.

Is Botox safe?

Botox injections are relatively safe when performed by an experienced medical professional. The most common side effects include swelling or bruising at the injection site, headache or flu-like symptoms.

Is it safe to have treatment while pregnant?

Doctors generally recommend against using botulinum toxin when you’re pregnant or breast-feeding, since the effects on the baby aren’t known.

Choosing an experienced medical practitioner? 

Wrinkle relaxing injections (botulinum toxin A) must be used only under a qualified medical practitioner’s care. It can be dangerous if it’s administered incorrectly. The Bexley Clinic is led by Anna-Marie Lewis, a nurse practitioner who specialises in aesthetic treatments and has many years of  experience in administering toxin treatments. As a skilled and properly certified practitioner, Anna-Marie can advise you on the procedure and can help determine if it best suits your needs and health.

What information will I need to provide during the consultation?

A full medical history is needed, including previous use of toxins/fillers, any allergies and any medications that you are taking currently.

What results can I expect from Botox injections?

Botulinum toxin injections usually begin working a few days after treatment. Depending on the problem being treated, the effect may last for three to six months. The results will vary between individuals and this will be discussed with you during the initial consultation. To maintain the effect, you’ll need regular follow-up injections.
