Microneedling

Microneedling comes in two forms – cosmetic microneedling and medical microneedling. Cosmetic microneedling can be done at home using a device that can penetrate the skin up to a depth of 0.3mm. The medical needling device has adjustable length needles that can penetrate the skin from 0.25 – 2.5mm. These devices should only be used by trained medical professional. 

Making channels into the epidermis and dermis releases growth factors that promote scarless healing and the deposition of normal collagen rather than scar collagen.

Microneedling is relatively safe when performed by an experienced medical professional. Suitability and potential side effects will always be discussed during initial consultations.

A full medical history is needed, including previous use of toxins/fillers, any allergies and medications that you are currently taking. 

Healing after microneedling begins as soon as treatment is finished. The full effects will take up to 6 weeks to be visible. The results will vary between individuals and this will be discussed with you during the initial consultation.  

The treatment uses very fine needles, is quick and minimally invasive. Most clients tell us any discomfort is minimal and some describe it as a small pinching sensation.
